Most people know that dressing well can make any person look and feel great no matter what their age or body weight is. People at almost any age can choose to wear clothing colors and styles that flatter them and make them look and feel younger and more vital. While it should be noted that not all clothing is appropriate for all ages, there are certain styles of clothing that can be classic at any age for most people.

Most often people who are looking to feel better about their sense of style should analyze what styles would flatter their body type best. In addition, there are clothes that may be quite fashionable for a person to wear in their young adult years that would not look good when a person reaches their latter adult life. In general for men, classic solid color suits in the darker shades can flatter almost any man at any age. These would typically be the black, darker charcoal gray, or dark blue suits. These colors look great often for most men in most age groups in the more casual cut slacks as well, such as Dockers.

For women, classic style dresses and skirts that tend to flatter at most any age are the T-length skirts. These can be are either straight line or a-line skirts usually work well with people who are small to medium build. However, straight line cuts are typically more flattering for people who are more overweight. In these designs, the classic darker solid colors tend to be more flattering for most women of any age or weight. These would be dark black, or dark blue colors. For slacks, the same applies. Most women tend to look good in a slight flare cut slack in either dark blue, charcoal gray or black. Color coordinating blouses is a great place where a woman can get that extra flare and add more of a special sense of personal style.

As for stripes, the general rule is that horizontal stripes should not be worn by anyone who struggles with a weight issue. That is because generally horizontal lines only accent a persons weight problems. Additionally, lighter colored clothing should be worn with some caution depending on the style. People who struggle with their weight should note that certain styles can be very unflattering. Tighter clothing should never be worn by a person who struggles with weight or for a person who has body contour issues. Tighter clothing styles can truly over accentuate a person’s negative body shape features and can prove to be unflattering. This in turn often lowers a person’s self esteem.

The great news is for both men and women, sweaters, designer shirts, and other accessories can be a great place to advance a sense of personal style. This is true no matter what age or weight a person is. These include such accents as: scarves, matching shoes and jewelry for a woman, or special ties or a classic layered shirt/sweater combination for a man.
